1. Safety Team
All safety divers are certified to AIDA Pool E Safety level or equivalent. A minimum of two safety divers will be on standby per heat.
One safety diver assigned to each athlete in the water during attempts.
Backup safety will be placed in Warm Up zone, rotating as needed.
2. Equipment and Resources
Onsite emergency oxygen (checked and functional). Fully stocked first aid kit.
Towels, blankets, and fresh water available at poolside.
3. Emergency Procedures
In the event of a blackout (BO) or loss of motor control (LMC), standard AIDA rescue protocol will be followed:
Immediate recovery, airway management, and post-recovery monitoring for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Oxygen administered if athlete does not recover consciousness within 30 seconds or shows signs of distress.
If the situation escalates or requires medical support, emergency services will be contacted immediately.
Evacuation route to Gateway Hospital will be pre-briefed with staff and clearly marked.
4. Pre-Event Briefing
All athletes will attend a mandatory safety briefing before the event begins.
Rules, safety signals, and heat procedures will be reviewed.
Medical declarations will be collected from each athlete.
