Safety Qualifications:
All safety freedivers are certified with AIDA Safety or equivalent training.
Each has experience in competition safety protocol, including rescue techniques and blackout response.
One member of the team is a trained emergency responder with CPR and oxygen administration certification.
A medical professional will be on-site during the entire competition.

Medical Team
A certified medical professional (doctor or nurse) will be on-site at all times during athlete performances.
The medic is trained in BLS (Basic Life Support), oxygen administration, and freediving-related injury response (e.g., hypoxia, LMC, blackout).
The medic will have:
Pulse oximeter
Blood pressure monitor
Glucometer
Stethoscope
Emergency medical kit
Oxygen supply (minimum 2 full tanks)
Safety Freedivers
At least 2 certified safety freedivers per discipline (STA, DYN, DYNB, DNF), rotating shifts to maintain alertness.
All safety team members have completed AIDA Safety Freediver training or equivalent.
They will conduct surface supervision during STA and in-water shadowing for dynamic disciplines.
A Safety Coordinator is appointed to brief and monitor the team.
Safety Roles of Judges & Staff
Judges will follow AIDA protocol for LMC/BO recognition and timing.
All staff will be briefed on emergency roles, including activation of EMS and athlete evacuation steps.
Emergency Evacuation Plan
An ambulance will be on standby alert, with contact confirmed daily before competition starts.
The nearest emergency medical facility is:
Hospital (approx. 6 mins from Apnea Bali)
Emergency numbers will be posted at poolside and in the organizer’s phone.
In case of an emergency requiring evacuation, the medic will stabilize the athlete and coordinate ambulance transport.
Briefings & Prevention
All athletes will undergo a mandatory pre-competition safety briefing
AIDA protocols for blackouts, LMC, protocol failure, and protests will be followed
Oxygen and medical kits will be clearly marked and placed poolside
