31st AIDA Freediving World Championship

Day 4 - Constant Weight Bifins (CWTB) - Men

Published: 2023/09/24

The fourth day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championships finished today, 24 September 2023, in Limassol, Cyprus.

Today was the men’s constant weight bifins (CWTB). In total, 41 men competed in the event. Again, we had near-perfect conditions with a flat sea and only a little bit of current at the end of the situation.

Since CWTB became an official AIDA discipline in 2019, the world record has been a back-and-forth battle between Alexey Molchanov and Jerald Arnaud. However, today, Molchanov dove uncontested and successfully reached 123m, setting a new AIDA World Record in CWTB, pending doping test.

Other highlights of the day included seven new AIDA National Records:

The rankings for the day:

  1. Alexey Molchanov (INT) -  123m – AIDA World Record (pending doping)
  2. Abdelatif Alouach (FRA) -  116m
  3. Andrey Matveenko (INT) -  111m

Looking forward to the women’s Free Immersion (FIM) competition on 26 September.
