AIDA Spotlight - Meet Amin Jadidi: AIDA Instructor Trainer, Education Committee Member and Education Officer 2026–2027
For this AIDA Spotlight, we introduce Amin Jadidi, the newly elected AIDA Education Officer for 2026 - 2027.
Amin is an AIDA freediving athlete, coach, and Instructor Trainer with over a decade of experience. He has issued more than 1,000 student certifications and trained over 100 instructors across multiple agencies. Since 2022, he has served as AIDA Iran`s representative and Education Committee member, and contributed to the revision of AIDA 1 & 2 materials.
With a Bachelor`s degree in Safety and Environmental Management, Amin has played a key role in establishing freediving in Iran; founding the national team, registering AIDA Iran and organizing national and international competitions.
As Education Officer, he brings extensive teaching experience, organizational insight, and a strong commitment to the continued development of freediving education.
How did you discover freediving, and what made you fall in love with it?
I first discovered freediving after watching The Big Blue. After my first competition in 2021, I realized that the deeper I dive, the better I feel - that was when my focus shifted from teaching to competing.
When did you start teaching, and what led you to become an instructor trainer?
I became an instructor in 2016, and soon understood that I couldn’t grow freediving in Iran alone. I completed my Instructor Trainer course, built a strong education team, and today freediving in Iran is growing rapidly.
You have certified over 1,000 students and trained more than 100 instructors. What makes a great freediving instructor?
A great freediving instructor, in my view, must constantly update their knowledge, skills and stay honest and transparent with their students. these are the keys to long-term success.
Why did you apply to become AIDA Education Officer, and what are your top three priorities for the next two years?
I applied for the Education Officer position because I believe I can help create meaningful improvements in AIDA education.
My main priorities are:
- Updating course materials
- Creating new skill videos and specialized courses such as No-Fins
- Translating educational content into more languages
You have helped revise the AIDA 1 & 2 materials already - what’s next for course content development?
The next step is revising the AIDA 3 & 4 course materials.
You’ve translated materials into Persian and proposed further translation support - why is language access so important?
Translating materials into more languages will open learning opportunities for thousands of freedivers in countries where many people only speak their native language.
How do you see freediving education evolving globally, and where should AIDA lead the way?
I believe AIDA should lead the way in modernizing educational content and setting new standards for freediving education worldwide.
What would you like the global AIDA instructor community to know about you as their new Education Officer?
I want the global instructor community to know that I have an open and collaborative mindset, and I welcome all volunteers who bring new ideas for growth.
How can people reach you if they want to connect or have questions?
