Safety Qualifications:
All safety divers have a minimum level one certification or AIDA Safety Pool certified.
We have a paramedic on site for the event with O2 cylinders and DAN South Africa will be informed of the event to be on standby for any emergency.

Safety plan:
In water precautions: 2x safety divers in the performance zone, 1x safety diver in the war up zone. All safety divers are trained in pool rescue skills with minimum level 1 freediver course or higher.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURE:
1. In the event of LMC/BO - Safety diver A to initiate rescue by bringing the athletes airway to the surface and supporting the athlete above water. Diver B to remove mask or facial equipment, blow on the face and provide verbal cues to \\\\\\\\``BREATHE\\\\\\\\`` - If responsive, diver to be assisted to Medic tent for further observation.
2. If no response from the athlete, Safety diver B to initiate RESCUE BREATH x 2 - if responsive, diver to be assisted to Medic tent for further observation.
3. If NO response, IMMEDIATELY remove the athlete from the water and medic to take over rescue and emergency care.
4. Organiser to inform emergency contact of the athlete.
5. Medic to administer oxygen / CPR if required.
6. In the case of further treatment or hospitalisation:
a. Provide athlete information to medic, including medical aid and emergency contact
b. Ensure that emergency contact has been informed.
POST EMERGENCY PROCESS:
1. Organiser to complete AIDA Incident Report documents
2. Athlete to get clearance from on-site medic or GP before allowed to compete further.
In addition to this a safety workshop will be held, prior to the event for the safety team and medics with role played scenarios of simulated rescues.
We will have a medic on site with O2 cylinders and full first aid / emergency supplies.
