At the end of November, Xiaoliuqiu usually offers excellent freediving conditions. Sea temperatures are around 25-26 °C, meaning a 3mm wetsuit is generally adequate. November is part of the dry season (November-March), so there’s less rain, more stable weather, and fewer typhoons. On good days, visibility often reaches 20-30 meters, especially on the leeward side of the island. Conditions are calmer, crowds are thinner, making this a great time for competition.

Xiaoliuqiu offers a wide range of accommodations to suit every traveler.

You’ll find everything from cozy guesthouses and homestays to modern boutique hotels and beachfront resorts. Most are located within a 5–10 minute scooter ride from the main harbor.

Many places also offer scooter rentals, breakfast, and gear storage—perfect for freedivers.

Traveling to Xiaoliuqiu is simple and straightforward.

First, take the high-speed rail to Kaohsiung (Zuoying Station). From there, transfer to a local bus or taxi to Donggang Harbor (about 45–55 minutes).

At Donggang, buy a ticket for the ferry to Xiaoliuqiu (Liuqiu Island). Ferries run frequently throughout the day, and the ride takes only 20–30 minutes.

Once you arrive on the island, you can rent an electric scooter or walk to your accommodation—VD Freediving dive center is just a few minutes from the harbor.
