Summary of 2010 Aida activities

Dear Aida freedivers,

Attached is a short summary of AIDA’s year 2010.

At this point I would like to mention that this year went by fast and contained a lot of work. I would like to thank you all for your support and patience. We had a lot of work and a lot of renewals during this year. We expect these efforts to continue in 2011, as several new and capable officers have recently joined the AIDA team.

The first order of business for 2011 was to publish finally a new Aida website. The old site is a bit outdated, and we started to evaluate some new technologies for the new site in the beginning of this year. During the year we published a POC (proof of concept) version of it and now we may be ready to publish a first release candidate.

This version is now live, since 1st of January 2011, and it contains most of the information from old Aida site, plus a new design and new navigation structure, and the most important: our new communication channel for this organization (news, newsletter functionality and Aida community for social networking).  As there will be some grammar errors, tiny spelling mistakes, etc. still left, I request your feedback if possible to improve the site. So please do not hesitate to send me your comments and corrections when you are able.
Happy new year!
On behalf Aida Board,
Kimmo Lahtinen, president of Aida
