December Board Notes

The Aida International Board met on December 10,2011 via Skype. The first item on the agenda was the Instructor/Trainer candidates. The Board has not received a recommendation from the EC regarding the IT candidates proposed by AIDA nationals. The Board has deferred this topic until January; the Board asked the EC to provide recommendations promptly based on the candidates’ qualifications.

The Board continued to discuss sled diving procedures. Items to be considered include proper use of lanyards, use of video camera on diver during the entire dive, and the four levels of responsibility. Grant presented a revised version of the deep diving guidelines, and will review the general safety guidelines to make sure they are current. Sled diving guidelines will follow the general safety guidelines by approximately one month.
Ben Noble, treasurer, provided an update on financial matters, including closure of annual financial statements using formal accounting processes for prior years. The Board discussed a number of matters relating to AIDA’s accounts and finances.
New AIDA PayPal Account. Ben noted that AIDA’s new Euro based PayPal account has been implemented, with payee: bank @ aidainternational.org
Kimmo asked Robert to notify the Assembly of the new PayPal information. Full information regarding payments to AIDA International can be found on the AIDA website at: http://aidainternational.org/questions-a-answers
The 2012 AIDA annual officer election was sent to Assembly members approximately 29 November, and concludes 12 December. Offices up for election this December (for the 2012-2013 term) are: President, Education Officer, Technical Officer.
AIDA 20th Anniversary Logo. The Board is reviewing a commemorative logo for AIDA’s 20th Anniversary (in 2012). Final choices will go to the Assembly for vote in 2012.
The Board voted to approve a request by an organization in Malaysia to be put to the Assembly for vote on Observer Membership. The Board also reviewed a proposal for an IT Contribution Policy for recently approved Instructor Trainers. The Board will implement this process in 2012.

It was decided that Grant and Ute will work with Claude Chapuis regarding medals and doping kits for the 2012 Team World Competition in Nice, France.

All of us at AidaInternational wish you a very happy holiday season and a new year filled with the dives of your dreams. We have some exciting plans to celebrate 2012 and the 20th anniversary of Aida!
